I dunno, but maybe because I watched a lot of Arthur as a kid (in addition to reading the books and playing that video game that came loaded on every school computer known to man) that I guess I have an affinity for Arthur memes.

I remember seeing Marc Brown do a reading shortly after a new massive library opened up in Vancouver, probably around '95-'96. It was a lot of fun, he seemed like a really nice dude.

If the man who created Arthur was a jerk it would shatter part of my childhood. Separate the art from the artist and all that, but when it comes to that kind of children's book/show it would just be too wrong. Like if Mr. Rogers turned out to be a crackhead.
