Radiohead are sort of on the cusp of popular, but so far as I know they never really got much mainstream traction, at least past the 90s. But if you think Fugazi is popular amongst anyone but music nerds then you probably need to stop hanging out with so many music nerds.

lol @ people who think bands can't be popular if they aren't on pop radio.

I'm not saying Fugazi are "mainstream" but they're easily one of the most popular post-hardcore band, and on a website called MUSIC banter I would expect 99% (bc Chula) of members to know who they are.

And Merzbow is the most popular harsh noise artist.

One hit wonders do not necessarily count as popular.

I never listen to the radio, and I still don't know those album covers.

Well the initial post was said it catered to popular albums, yet more albums in that image aren't popular. So if I'm missing something, please inform me.

I wouldn't say harsh noise and post-hardcore are at similar levels of popularity.

"Radiohead have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide."

At what point has post-hardcore ever been popular with anyone but music nerds? That is my point. Those are not popular albums. Those are popular albums for niche music fans.
