Got any crab cakes?

MicShazam 11-14-2018 01:54 PM

I don't like them.
They taste like crab.

Wait are we doing a Batman thing? I thought we were doing a Batman thing.

I like them because they don't taste like crab.

I hear it's actually good. It's just spiced meats of varying kinds, really. I'd like to try some if I visit Scotland.

It’s basically every organ from a sheep cooked inside its own stomach... absolutely delicious

Edit: they add oats n some spices to it too but not really sure what.

Pretty sure nutmeg is in it as well as pepper, and yes it is lovely.

I might get some this week actually.

Fetcher have you ever had this - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stornoway_black_pudding

That sounds good, I might get some too. I’ve not had it in a while, we usually have it with peppercorn sauce too, so delicious!

Yeah I’ve had normal black pudding and Stornoway black pudding, my mum and dad actually went on holiday to Stornoway last year and brought some home :D. Black pudding is quite common to have with a full breakfast up here :).

What was it like? I want to try the Stornoway black pudding. Rave reviews online and from people who had had it. But it ain't cheap. If it just tastes like normal black pudding I wouldn't bother going out of my way to get it. But I am intrigued.

I’m not even sure how to explain it haha it is great but I would maybe buy a cheaper version from a local butchers or something first to make sure you like it before you get Stornoway :). Be careful you don’t overlook it too because it gets really dry.

Cheers.

Oh yeah I love black pudding. But I'm expecting the Stornoway stuff to be a level above the stuff I can get in a butcher's or ASDA.

I also eat it without cooking it sometimes :)
