Pretty much this. Just be sure to add some liquid. Beef, chicken, or vegetable stock/broth all work great. Rule of thumb is about 1/3rd up the pot to your base dry ingredients.

Mess around a few times with one and you will be converted. Like Plank says, toss a bunch of **** in, turn it on low, go to work for the day, and when you get home and settled in, NIRVANA awaits. And you only have to clean one pot.
