When it comes to food, I don't joke around. Well, maybe sometimes. But I take that **** seriously.

Explain to an American: when is tea time?

For me it's an evening meal but it depends who you ask I think. Some will say it's the evening meal when you come home and some will say it's earlier than that and the evening meal is called dinner.

Afternoon tea is a light meal typically eaten between 3.30 pm and 5 pm. Observance of the custom originated amongst the wealthy social classes in England in the 1840s.

Tea (also known as high tea or meat tea) is one name for the evening meal. It is associated with the working class and is typically eaten between 5 pm and 7 pm. In the North of England, North and South Wales, the English Midlands, Scotland and in rural and working class areas of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, people traditionally call their midday meal dinner and their evening meal tea (served around 6 pm), whereas the upper social classes would call the midday meal lunch or luncheon and the evening meal (served after 7 pm) dinner (if formal) or supper (if informal).

Dinner is supper back in New England. Everytime I watch The Departed I crack up when Martin Sheen tells DiCaprio to "come inside and have some suppuh".

Going to do a slow cooker Chicago style Italian Beef tomorrow. Gonna put a Mirepoix of onion, carrot, and celery on the bottom of the pot for the chuck roast to sit on. Then add a boiled broth of beef stock, a bunch of spices, and dried Italian dressing mix.

Cook on low for 10 hours, then shred the beef and let it cook for another 30 minutes. Strain the broth to use as an au jus. Cut a baguette and drench it with the au jus, add some beef and top with with sweet cherry peppers.
