Did a belter of a curry over the weekend. Done in the slow cooker and you don't need that many ingredients or hard to get spices either (meaning the American bros could do this).
Nepalese beef curry Serves 4/5 (or me). 1kg of beef braising steak (tbh any cheap stewing steak will do) - chopped into 1 inch pieces 2 onions finely chopped 4 garlic cloves 1 inch piece of fresh ginger Green chillies 4 teaspoons ground cumin 4 teaspoons ground coriander 2 teaspoons ground turmeric 800g chopped tomatoes (the tinned stuff) 2 teaspoons garam masala 200g natural yoghurt Fresh coriander Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the beef until browned all over then tip it into the slow cooker. Add more oil and fry the onions until golden brown. Use a cheese grater (the smallest holes) to grate the garlic and ginger. You can chop it if you like but this is quicker and better. Add the chillies chopped. Use at least two but I like it a bit hotter, and use six. Add the spices, fry for about five minutes then tip into the slow cooker. Add chopped tomatoes and 400g of water (fill one of the tins tbh) and add to the slow cooker. Cook on low for at least 8/10 hours, but the longer the better. 30 mins before serving stir in the yoghurt, garam masala and coriander (and more chillies if you want), bit of salt to taste and cook for half hour then serve. I had this with pilau rice and some Peshwari naans. No pics but might have some next week as I'm doing this again this weekend |

http://youtube.com/watch?v=PTK6Yr-St8s I made some changes to it though, put the marinated chicken on skewers as they cook better and some extra onion and peppers. It is a fair bit of effort to go to but is worth it and if you double the amount of ingredients you will get about 10/11 servings, can freeze in foil trays. Sanjeev Kapoor has a less complicated one, it's on YouTube. Do you want the rice recipe? It is very good. I would normally add chilli powder but I agree with this recipe, it does not require it. |

Today I had a bucket of original recipe KFC, 12 fried shrimp, fries, and a pound of strawberries. Oh, and some ice cream.

Polynesian Steak Teriyaki
2 lbs flank steak trimmed and cut into strips - cut against the grain Marinade 1/2 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup olive oil 1/4 cup water 2 tbsps. molasses 2 tsp mustard powder 1 tsp ginger powder 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp onion power Mix together and marinate the steak strips for at least 8 hours Set your broiler on high and cook 4-5 minutes on each side on the top rack. Keep an eye on it so they don’t burn. If you are going to use wooden skewers be sure to soak them in water first.
