Surprised the score is an 86. My friend polished off a sixer and said it was a solid 90 and advised me to step up. I always liked apricot ales.

I read back in February that Dogfish Head is going to be putting out a beer to coincide with the release of Event II by Deltron 3030.

so i drank the beers last night....and i have to say they were amazing.....the "bacon" idea comes out of the smoked malts they used and really only is there when it first hits your tongue.....but the maple is amazing....not just maple but an actual maple bar taste while still tasting like a hearty beer....and the lingering after taste.....a maple doughnut.....i think this beer is amazing and you should rush out to find it :)

a bit expensive but worth it

Just cooked a dinner for 20 of the highest ranking officials for a national liquor distributor that is worth 1.5 billion dollars. My payment was to choose any spirit at the bar to take home free of charge.

that much choice and you go with this? I like this scotch personally, but given a choice I would probably go with something with a higher price tag, and no less than 18 years.

Thats a 90 dollar bottle right there, i'm sure he wasn't trying to gouge the guy for an 18 year bottle. Either way the 12 is just fine for me, albeit the taste isnt as refined as your suggestion.

BastardofYoung 05-09-2012 03:29 PM

oh yeah, I am a scotch drinker. I know the price tag. I was just thinking when dealing with a company worth over a billion dollars, no need to feel cheap. Especially since you cooked for them.

Was in the catering business for a while, know about the high ranking people you can cook for.

BastardofYoung 05-09-2012 03:31 PM

also, I do not know. That one was good, but didn't wow me like others. It was good and palatable, but didn't leave me wanting to get it again. But still a good single malt. But I would probably go with a Dalwhinnie, Cragganmore, Oban or Legavulin over it. But that is just me.

It certainly doesn't hold up to Legavulin or Oban, but its a nice blend. I'd throw Glenrothes and Auchentoshan into the mix with those two. The best of the twelve years is Old Pulteney for me.

BastardofYoung 05-09-2012 03:40 PM

only one of the classic malts I have yet to try, as i can not find it anywhere here:
Glenkinchie - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

need to get that one to finish of the classic malts.

The bar didn't have the 200+ scotch's they carry, this was the best selection available. Trust me I had my eyes on the Laphroaig 30 yr but I wasn't about to ask for the keys to the warehouse.

ladyislingering 05-10-2012 08:46 AM

last night was a night for peppermint schnapps.

I don't think there's any other sort of liquor I love half as much as I love peppermint schnapps.

it's been too long since I've had a glass of cabernet sauvignon or pinot noir, though.

Ever since I've been here I've noticed that wines from California vineyards are superior to anything else I've tasted.

Beer. It's what my girl will be drinking far to much of, then being herded like cattle back to my private chamber where I desecrate her holy name.

Liquor. Its what she will have when she starts to sober up so I may continue to sodomize her lifeless body as the soulless heathen I am and aspire to be.
