guiness is great, just a shame no one here knows how to do a proper pour.

I pour it into a plastic cup. I don't have the funds or any funds to buy decent glass cups. It does the job, though.

FRED HALE SR. 03-26-2012 10:39 AM

Got two of these in trade. Wasn't aware they were bottled for consumption but found a friend who wanted some Pliny's in trade.

My love of citra hops is growing and this one is usually a 4 out of 5 on the beer scale. Looking forward to it.

I could only stomach half the bottle. Its a very odd concept indeed. Pretty sweet bottle though, the same reason i bought the black metal bottle.

well, if you just drink it out of a bottle, no need to do a proper pour, because it should just be drank straight from the bottle.

The proper pour only matters if you get it on tap.

My favourite beer is Carslberg Export. Relatively cheap but with a decent taste but after buying a load for the festival this weekend I just happened to notice that it didn't quite taste right and then noticed on the side of the can 4.8% vol. Eh? Are my eyes deceiving me? Apparently not:
British beer gets weaker- MSN Money
The whole reason I drink Export (apart from it's taste) is it's usual 5% vol because any beer below 5% just doesn't taste good to me and just doesn't 'hit' me at all.

Now I understand companies wanting to save money but you just can't make an inferior product and A) charge exactly the same amount (it has actually gone UP in price at Tesco's) and B) not inform customers of this. I am very pissed off as I brought some back with me and it tastes like all the other cack lagers now (Carling, Fosters etc).

Of course the government are as usual at the root of this and ripping companies who of course have to pass that off to consumers to absorb the hit. If it carries on like this I will have to get onto Special Brew (!) or cider which is currently £2.66 for 3L @ 5.3% vol and is actually damn good!

Please don't tell me I should be drinking spirits instead. Yes I SHOULD but I can't afford them and work far too many hours to function constantly.

Bollocks.

Yeah, this happens all the time, sadly. Jack Daniels, for example, has had this happen twice:

Quote:

Unfortunately, not a word of it is true. For the second time since the Brown-Forman Corporation acquired the distillery in 1956, they have lowered the proof of Jack Daniel's Black Label Tennessee Whiskey. Fifteen years ago they dropped its original 90 proof to 86, and very recently, and might I say with zero fanfare, they degraded it to 80 proof.

What's proper? This afternoon I went into a dive bar that I frequent to get a cheap 20-ounce Guinness which is their Monday special and this guy.. a guy who knows me and has poured me many beers.. poured the Guinness perfectly but drew a Fucking Shamrock in the head. I was disappointed to say the least.

That's what I'm saying! The guy who poured mine knows what he's doing. The pour was perfect and looked exactly like the pour in the vid (minus the silly self-assuming logo on the glass) but do I really need to ask for no Shamrock in my head? I already have to wait long enough.

I just traded a pack of Stride mystery gum someone gave me today, unopened, for a 211 Steel Reserve Triple Export - 8.1%. Should be able to catch a little buzz if I pound it. The first store I went to wouldn't do it, but the second store did. Huzzah! Free beer in my book!

Chun Li 03-27-2012 01:24 AM

A glass of water, I didn't drink caffeine nor alcohol.

Hmmm...I feel like I need to try this, asap. What did you think of it?

bob. 03-27-2012 11:42 PM

bought two bottles....but must wait for my friend....its really for him....he has an insane obsession with bacon

personally i hate bacon but it does sound interesting and there is no animal product in it:)

i've had smoke beers before....which have a bit of a "bacon" flavor and they were actually quite good.....it's the maple that concerns me

i'll let you all know this weekend when we get together for drinks :)

http://search.chow.com/thumbnail/300...-beer.jpg?q=90

i was given two cases of this last night.....so this will be what i'm drinking for the next few days :)

not bad....nothing special :)

BastardofYoung 03-27-2012 11:44 PM

We got that stuff at work, and we got to sample it. I thought it was alright, not my thing personally, but many people seemed to like it.

Before that I had only tried:

Something that was interesting to try, would probably drink one if offered, but wouldnt go out of my way to buy it.

bob. 03-27-2012 11:49 PM

edit: 50 decent beers for free is never a bad thing :)

must get job at beer distributor!

a true Flemish brown red ale....the red (67%) is aged in oak barrels for two years to get that "sour" taste that should make this amazing

Janszoon 04-03-2012 02:27 PM

Ack!

bob. 04-03-2012 02:31 PM

if its as sour as i've read that should be my reaction as well as Bill's....

edit:.....hopefully he does not relapse and go on some crazy coke binge and drink my half :)

9.7 abv, I had 2 and sunk into my couch on couch lock. Outstanding, I still hold out my undying love for the port mongo, it certainly can hold its own with any bitter hop beer, ruination, sculpin and pliny included.

bob. 04-05-2012 09:47 AM

and to think i thought the world ended with the dogfish head 120!
