Some new ones I've tried recently
Lagunitas Bavarian-Styled Doppel Weizen (8.7%) Delicious, very Bavarian indeed. Lagunitas Davey Murray's Best Scotch Ale (9.5%) Doesn't taste like any scotch ale I've ever had. Very dark and strong. I think Oskar Blues still makes the best one though. Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barley Wine Style Ale (9.6%) Delicious. Get it while you can, my local liquor store is trying to stash them where people can't find them so they don't sell so fast. Firestone Walker's Leo V. Ursus - Fortem American Double/Imperial IPA (8.2%) Wow, this was not at all what I was expecting. Not bitter in the slightest and is really fruity and smooth.

Best part of living in San Diego is that strong ales are popular on the West Coast + we have mad selection.

Strongest I can find easily is that Foreign Extra stuff. 6% or so is what I usually see though.
I've had ten per cent beer before but it was Crest/Skol Super, which tastes a bit like battery acid. The local alcoholics drink it just to get drunk. |
