Here's another from Thailand that wasn't half bad.

Not as good as the Singha 'Special' a bar girl offered me to try.
She gave me a regular bottle of Singha, but at an inflated price.
I was about to kick off about being ripped off, until it was pointed out to me that it came with a free blow job. :D

and what plane of reality were you inhabiting at the time RT?

edit: inflated price? hang on that means the blow job WASN'T free!

You ask for that in a British pub & you'd get laughed out of the building.

Us college kids have very little money and a 30 pack of Keystone is about 12 dollars so it gets its job done.

When I'm feeling classy I'll pick up a 6 pack of Rolling Rock Extra Pale lol.

I'm a college kid, too. You could at least get Pibbers if you insist on being cheap. It's my one and only favorite cheap, light beer :)

I've had PBR once in my life and have vowed to never drink it again. It was that bad.

It's the ****tiest. But I love it.

Guybrush 03-21-2009 04:29 PM

Mmm .. pale ale :)

We have norway's most famous microbrewery not too far from where we live. It's a bit of a tourist attraction, but it's still a nice place to go. The ales they have on tap there are the finest beers I've ever had in any pub. They have some very nice pale ales and some astonishing porter and bitter.

Wish I had a cold beer to go with the whisky.

If you're just trying to "get the job done" why not just pick up a bottle of rubbing alcohol for 99 cents.

The Cat 03-21-2009 04:34 PM

Currently drinking Germanys finest Franziskaner Hefeweissen and about to move onto a 12 year old Bowmore single malt:beer:

Its the only cheap beer I'll drink. It's great if you have plans of making a mud hut out of your own feces the next day.

The oldest active brewery in the world, and quite possibly the most delicious heffeweissen ever!

That's beautiful!

Guybrush 03-21-2009 04:58 PM

The last weissbier I had was Unertl, brought to us by a german friend who needed to borrow our couch. It was his favourite and for good reason .. quite sweet for a beer and very yummy. :)

The Cat 03-21-2009 05:12 PM

Glad to see some fans of the Weissen! got to be careful though i find too many and you get a very bad stomach!
The Bowmore is supurb...17 year old is better....

Guybrush 03-21-2009 05:15 PM

Yes, the 17 is nice but then I preferred the 12 over the 15 year old I had. 21 year old and legend are also nice!

Other than that, I like a lot of the younger whiskys. I don't mind a little islay punch in the mouth.

The Cat 03-21-2009 05:18 PM

have you tried the 10 year loafraig?

I went to a bar in Freiburg, Germany and i had ordered a shot of the Bowmore 17 Year and the triaed to sell me a 25 Year old..mmmmmi thought very nice until i checked the price which was 30 Euros!

Laphroaig may be my favourite islay whisky .. And of those, the quarter cask is my current favourite!
It has quite a punch, though. The Bowmore is much softer, so it's nice to alternate a bit.

I've lived in the norwegian arctic where there is no taxation on alcohol, so everything is cheap there. :)

The Cat 03-21-2009 05:37 PM

Sorry about the poor spelling...it seems to be a side effect Franziskaner! but i agree on the Laphroaig.

I have no idea. They all taste like pisswater anyways.

It's not like you can't get good beer over here; I live in a region where the domestic microbrews are exceptionally good.

SATCHMO 03-21-2009 10:15 PM

^^^^^blame rednecks and frat boys

Janszoon 03-21-2009 10:53 PM

I have to admit I prefer light beers. Darker beers serve no purpose to me, if I want a meal I'll eat something.

Seltzer 03-21-2009 11:04 PM

This is what we were drinking at the flat on Friday night. Best cheap beer in the country. :D

LoathsomePete 03-22-2009 12:12 AM

Worked my way through a 4 pack of Guinness and now I'm on my second cup of coffee and I don't feel anything.

As far as the reasoning behind drinking light beer is concerned is that it allows you to drink more because it's less potent. You can binge drink far more on Keystone Light then you can on something a bit higher up. I'm pretty unfamiliar with American beer as most of my beer knowledge comes from Canada and the U.K.

I'm hoping that's a Long Island Iced-tea. AKA:
Quote:

A Long Island Iced Tea is a highball made with, among other ingredients, vodka, gin, tequila, and rum. A popular version mixes equal parts vodka, gin, tequila, rum and triple sec with 1 1/2 parts sour mix and a splash of cola. Close variants often replace the sour mix with sweet and sour mix or with lemon juice, the cola with actual iced tea, or add white creme de menthe. Some restaurants substitute brandy for the tequila.

The drink has a much higher alcohol concentration (~28%) than most highballs because of the proportionally small amount of mixer.
AKA:
My favorite alcoholic beverage merely for the fact that it gets me hammered. :D
