Drinking some Cascade Pale Ale that I brewed with some friends. It's surprisingly easy to make your own good beer.

Yes, so I've heard. I'm thinking of starting to brew my own also. Much cheaper from what I hear.

Yeah, it's really cheap. The initial cost for the containers and stuff is probably $30-$50 depending on how much you want to brew at a time but after that it's really cheap. For example, the last batch we made was a 5 gallon stout for about $30, which makes about 50-60 bottles of beer. It takes 1-2 weeks for most beers from start to finish. And as long as you don't screw up the recipe, it's usually really good beer.

Yeah, that's fucking interesting. I've been doing a lot of reading up on the subject on other forums and home brew blogs, as well as watching youtube videos on the various methods.

Are you using malt extract kits? Or doing a partial / full grain mash?

I'm doing partial for the time being, by this summer I'll probably get into full grain mash though.
