Iirc it's French when you use bourbon or cognac instead of gin. I want to try it with d'usse.

ribbons 06-09-2022 03:46 PM

They called it a French 75 where I had it, and it was made with gin, but the bartender mentioned it could be made with cognac.

***googles D'Usse*** lol

The description of the bouquet with woody notes, ripe blackberry and apricot, layered with hints of dark chocolate and walnut - sounds beautiful. I like reading about liquor more than drinking it. Really, the descriptions of some cocktails are gorgeous - and I love to watch them being made! It's an art form.

Don't you think you should slow down a bit, Paul?

I was recently "promoted" to practice manager which only means that in addition to client work I get to plan lots more events for persnickety attorneys, especially in summer. One partner asked me this morning to coordinate an axe-throwing event, and another just emailed me this booze list without a subject line or telling me what party it's for: "Balvenie Caribbean cask, Laphroig 12yr, anything Glenrothes, Vodka - grey goose/ketel. Tequila - Casamigos, Rum - Bacardi, Scotch - glenlivet 12/ glenfiddich 14, Bourbon - basil Hayden/ woodFord reserve"

I need a mega pint right now.

Plankton 06-21-2022 11:04 AM

Throw in a 30 pack of Busch on that order.

ribbons 06-21-2022 11:09 AM

If I throw in Busches they'll start sending emails debating "best practices" to keep them properly iced and presented in the best light.

Plankton 06-21-2022 11:23 AM

Best practice to keep them properly iced is to drink em before they get warm. Cost effective and maximizes ROI.

ribbons 06-21-2022 11:28 AM

LOL - I'll have to suggest that to the Events Committee, then turn it over to the Finance Committee for review.

They won't drink them before they're warm because the attorneys talk too much.

Plankton 06-21-2022 11:50 AM

You'll need to have those metrics in place before the Finance Committee review. I can provide in-person training. It's only a one-day class, and when they finally wake up 2 days later, they'll have a better Core Competency as well as a headache.

Will CLE credit be offered for your training session? Because I'll need to prepare, circulate, collect and submit the forms for the attendees, along with a copy of your PowerPoint presentation. And that's something I always love to do.

There are too many committees here, too many internal meetings, too much "will circle back" and "will review and revert" in emails. Yikes. Gimme a beer.

Plankton 06-21-2022 12:15 PM

I don't use PP, I use Tik Tok vids. I'll recrudesce when I get that all in order.

ribbons 06-21-2022 12:28 PM

***googles recrudesce***

Your recrudescence is very impressive. Let's regroup and reconvene soon.

"Being Good at Looking Up Words In a Thesaurus" is an elective, if they'd like to include that. No extra charge.

ribbons 06-21-2022 01:07 PM

Which reminds me - since this is the drinking thread...

A thesaurus walks into a bar. The bartender takes one look and says, "What is this, a prank, mockery, tomfoolery, facetiousness, drollery, hoodwinking or knee-slapper?"

I liked that one. Thanks for the chuckle.

As for drinks, the minute my kids get to sleep, I'm cracking open a St-Ambroise oatmeal stout https://mcauslan.com/en/beer-facts/?...en&product-446

Having been given some fabulous plonk (OZ for alcohol) I’ve exceeded my monthly limit.
So, mineral water with raspberry cordial and peppermint tea and coffee in the AM for a while.

Carpe Mortem 08-21-2022 03:17 PM

It rhymes with 'ruddy Larry'

I feel like that should be a real drink

music_collector 08-22-2022 07:12 PM

I had some Pelee Island baco noir over the weekend. It's one of my favourite reds.

Carpe Mortem 08-24-2022 05:52 PM

This is a damn good new mix

I'm drinking some fancy dihydrogen monoxide. It's on tap here.

I assume you are not unaware what that sounds like lol

Plankton 08-27-2022 12:13 PM

I am aware.

music_collector 08-28-2022 07:37 PM

After having too much wine at a wedding last night, I'm having ... nada. My brain cells are begging me to stop killing them.

Carpe Mortem 08-28-2022 08:31 PM

Had a cherry riesling with lemon honey creme in it. We went to a renaissance festival today so I've really been drinking pretty consistently... and after all that mead, I needed to keep the buzz going.

music_collector 08-28-2022 08:47 PM

I know what you mean re: keeping the buzz.

When my wife and I are in the Carribean, I maintain a buzz throughout the week. She'll get loaded on night one, and pay for it for a while.
