There's a national stereotype to be lived down to.

^ I had one of those after my lecture in uni finished actually. The best cheap beer, or at least beer you'll find in most pubs you walk into, that you can get.

*sigh*

When I was living in Wales I could get a pint of Guinness at Wetherspoons for 90 p. Move back over to Canada and I'm paying $7-9 Canadian for it depending on what pub I went to.

$7-9? That's about £5 isn't it? Gotta say, that is pretty damn steep. If it's any consolation, long gone are the days when you could find a pint for 90p in this country. Often it's worth it though, especially if you prefer pubs that specialise in local ales with a dartboard and pool table on the side like I do.

Yeah 5 quid seems about right after the conversion is done. I remember when I was in Brighton for a weekend the Wetherspoons there was charging 3.95 for a pint of Stella.

There were some really good pubs in Colwyn Bay that specialized in local ales, specifically the Cayleigh in Rhos-On-Sea area (I refuse to refer to it as it's own town) which was kind enough to include a two pool tables, a dartboard, and even Tuesday night karaoke.

I'm not sure what the general consensus is on Wetherspoons but I enjoyed it for what it was. Sure it kind of sucked on Sundays because of the family night, but it was cheap, large, and had hot bartenders.

Yeah, that always helps eh

I'm not sure about the general consensus, but there's a Wetherspoons in town around where I am (might even be heading there before I hit the clubs later), and the drinks are fairly cheap in there. Plus the meals they do are top stuff. Haven't been to Wales in at least 10 years myself, but I'd love to go back and have a night out down there someday.

Drinking the red wine in this picture, it's actually not bad for a $3 bottle of wine from Wal-Mart.
