whats the dark side of it? my gf is chinese and we eat it on special occasions (its so expensive but so tasty)

Yup, zzz got it right ..

zzz, I take it since you were a kid that this was a slug found out in the grass somewhere? If so, that's quite naty.

Those things must taste bad and can have parasites!
