So what if it's cleaner.

Production is there to enhance the sound , not be the best thing about it.

If your listening to a song and thinking to yourself 'wow what clean guitars' then why bother writing a song at all.

Besides what I posted was a live show from 1970 , it's hardly going to be up to the standards of a studio recording from post 2000 , and that wasn't the point in me posting it anyway. If you think that video didn't have decent riffs & energy you need your head tested.

Plus a lot of music sounds better with a dirty sound, the MC5 are a case in point.

I'm a fan of metalcore, but I have no illusions that is anywhere near having the emotional content of other genres... at least not in it's truest form. Here's some of the 'emotional' Parkway Drive for ya:

You know I really wanted to slate this but I can't do it.

They manage to effortlessly weave the sound of about 20000 other bands who all sound exactly the same as this without getting distracted with things like originality & diversity.

Top marks

Why do so many people consider classical music to be so great? It seems like everyone gives a ton of credit to older music, like metallica, led zepplin, black sabbath etc. But i don't see what is so good about it. Yeah, it is good music don't get me wrong, but i don't see how anyone can stand to listen to a whole sabbath album and say it is freakin EPIC. Yeah, everyone has different tastes, but for kids like myself who weren't around in that era of music, since the style has changed drastically, i just can't see why so many people like it so much.

Personally, i think most classical music is good, but i don't consider it great anymore. Maybe 15 years ago it would fly, but now days it just sounds so boring.
well it depends on what you look for in music. plenty of people go for something like a catchy hook or maybe something heavy and fast. some people, like fans of classical music, would listen to the music itself, like the relationships between certain notes and the feeling put into it. imo, it's really just preference

Parkway Drive, really ARE shit. I can enjoy Metalcore, but not when it's just an imitation of death/thrash/power metal band for kids who can't appreciate the real thing.

Very strange. I feel like we're all getting trolled by Darkest Hour and Co., as their responses seem to blow off everything you guys are saying.
