That second pic lucifer threw up reminds me of these guys I saw walk into the grocery store the other day. The whole group looked exactly like that, all tanned and spiked hair and popped collars. It was a disgrace.

I have always hated the word "Chav", its a daytime TV word. The term "Hoodie" also winds me up.

The phrase that I use for a "chav" is a Scally or Scroat and they've been around in society since time began, although the fashions may have changed slightly over the years, saying that I remember growing up in Salford with my short haircut, Sprayway coat with hood and trackie bottoms, and that was over 10 years ago now. Good luck to them I say.

I read somewhere that in late Victorian society, there were gangs who occupied poorer areas in Manchester, they were called "Scuttlers", they'd hang around on corners with their short haircuts whilst carrying knives, weird how things never change.

disgrace no, it's just come to be less than what's acceptable as a social norm.

It probably wouldn't be so bad if they didn't act the way they do. I mean, I don't often judge the way people look because whatever makes a person feel comfortable is fine with me but the fake orange tan, blonde spiked tips, the popped collars.....kinda overboard with some of them and they walk around like they are God's gift to women, not to mention that the entire group looks exactly the same.

I'd go as far as to say that Manchester's Scuttlers gave birth to the modern day scallie (chav).
With Victorian Manchester being the worlds first industrial city and the working classes living in terrible conditions, it's hardly surprising. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scuttlers
And you're right about nothing changing...check out the burberry scarves.

You have no idea how much I hate frat guys. I'd rather watch How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days buy myself than attend a frat party.

There are a lot of "douchebags" down here in Miami. The only difference is that they exhibit a more "ghetto" attitude.
