Natasha Richardson dies after ski accident

This is such devastating news... after a ski accident on Monday in Canada she suffered blunt head trauma and passed away yesterday afternoon. She leaves behind her husband, Liam Neeson, two young sons and family and friends who adored her.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her family...

Really, why is it devastating for you?

Sorry that she died but she's a bit of a fool for not wearing a helmet OR getting checked after. It doesn't matter if you feel fine.

Sad news but she should have been more active in terms of making 100% sure she had no internal injuries.

It wasnt really her fault; she was on a beginner's slope, or a 'nursery' slope wherein it isnt essential, or even 'necessary', that you wear a helmet.

Whether it's necessary or not, I don't know, I don't ski, but regardless, she should have gotten medical attention after, even if she felt okay. They would have had a far better chance of saving her life.

How come people become "devastated" when a famous person croaks, meanwhile, other people kicking up daisies on a daily basis get nary a thread?

Sneer 03-19-2009 04:11 PM

Because people arent aware of their existence on a wide scale? Pretty obvious i would have thought.

Not only that, but I really don't see this woman as a particularly famous or accomplished artist...I haven't seen a single film by her. Is this hot news because she's Liam Neeson's wife?

If you're not aware of people's existence on a wide scale, then you need a thread, my friend...

Probably. It's still a sad story though, no matter how famous she is or isn't.

ETA: Also, she's Vanessa Redgrave's daughter in addition to being Liam Neeson's wife.
