If I see a tragedy that touches me in some way, I'm not gonna say "phf, people suffer like that elsewhere too, so I'm not gonna waste sympathy on them!" ..

I mean, it doesn't make sense. It's still a tragedy, right? So what if other people suffer too? If I read about their tragedies, I feel sorry for them as well. It's not like I have to carefully choose which one I feel sorry for.
