You know I can't tell the difference between empathy and sympathy.

^I agree, it's a tragic accident and famous or not doesn't change that. The family has my sympathy.

@lucifer, empathy allows for sympathy. ;)

Empathy is putting yourself in the position of another and understanding what they may be feeling.

In this case, two young lads having lost their mother.

this thread kind of makes me sick tbh

lucifer_sam 03-19-2009 07:58 PM

oh the irony.

Freebase Dali 03-19-2009 09:57 PM

I just don't see the point of threading about it.
If it's a broadly televised incident then everyone's already heard of it.

I have sympathy, but its a process that runs in the background.

i didn't hear of it until i saw it here. Why can't people just say rip and get over it? If it was mel gibson or something this thread would be 20 pages by now.

I don't think she was a recognizable actor though really, so maybe she shouldn't have a thread, but no need to argue

Tragic yes, but no more tragic than the hundreds of accidental deaths that happen each day.

That was my original point of view.
I've since then toned it down to "Meh..."

Quit complaining, its not sick or weird that ppl are upset ok.... Famous ppl get famous because of us. We decided their fate honestly. We have to like and go see other filims by these ppl. She was obviously an actress that ppl enjoyed otherwise she would have not been famous. Bottom line thats why ppl react.

Also from what i have seen ppl have a soft spot when a mother leaves behind some children. Either way thats all I' ve got.
