So I find myself in this rather peculiar predicament of being a newly divorced guy with scarcely no possessions to call my own except for this shiny new Macbook I just bought. That's all well and good, but the problem is I have almost no music to play on this silly thing. If anyone wanted to PM me their *cough* condolences *cough* it would really make feel not quite so all alone.

Uh, I suppose there's back up files on the computer which she owns, but she's definitely not internet savvy and I'm in another state right now. Everything else, including my cd's and my ipod I sold or gave away before I moved to Maine.

Well that's certainly a fucked up development. I hope you get back on your feet soonish.

I might be able to help if there's anything specific you want. I have a somewhat extensive collection.

Other than that, I can help you get an invite for Spotify which gives you quick access to a lot of music. It's like a media player, but it streams music from the net, all perfectly legal. Even though it streams, it is surprisingly fast .. basically as fast as playing my local stuff.

To get it, go to the following site. You will see a text-box in which you can write something. Write "Ja" ("yes" in norwegian) and press return. That will bring you to Spotify's register site which is in english.

This will only work while there are invitations, but it looks like there's 580 or so at the moment. While I prefer to have my own collection, Spotify can serve as a temporary replacement at least - and a glimpse into the future of the music business I'm sure. :)
