the chicken or the egg?

Depends on how you look at it. The question is too loosely defined to say either way.

If you asked, "what came first, the chicken as we know it or the egg," the answer would unquestionably be the egg.

You can only say the chicken if you allow previous generations of evolution to be counted as chickens. Of course, if you believe in creationism then the chicken certainly came first.

i've got two answers to this question. One that's stupid and the other is actually rather logical.

The first answer is:
I came first and I made the egg with my bare hands.

And now for my logical answer.
I believe that a chicken came first. Based on the fact that energy can be neither created or destroyed but just does so happen exist one way or other I think that a chicken had to come first since the byproducts or reproductive organs can not exist otherwise.
And I think that there had to be at least 2 chickens of course to make a the egg.
I always hated this question because if only people of the world just heard my answerr(s) first they wouldn't keep asking the same question over and over.
In any case, it is kinda known that the reproductive systems and organs are some of the most primitive systems and also the first to develop.
It only makes sense that when one chicken met another chicken that they heard the urge to make an egg. Because back then the concept of frontal lobes didn't dawn upon mother nature but apparently amygdalas did and so that is the reason why the chicken came before the egg.

I beleive the egg came first because of the genetic mutations that have to occur in nature for new species to be produced. These mutations would have occured in the egg, and as such, the egg came first. This only holds true with the caveat that the previous generation of evolution (whatever laid the egg) isn't classed as a chicken.

Of course, the true answer is neither came first. The way evolution occurs over many millions of years means the line between the chicken/egg becomes blurred. Although, if you wanted to be really clever you could say neither; single cell organisms came first.

i dont see the point in this question? y does it matter? this usually ends up in confusion and arguments. the only thing that does matter is that we have KFC and that it stays here

i think it started off as a stupid useless post, and then people got philosophical with it. but yes, KFC is delicious. what ever happened to colonel sanders? i bet he knows which came first, after all he did live to like 120 years old

well, it's not limited to a chicken egg specifically, so i'm going to say the egg, since there were dinosaur eggs long before there were chickens. And since I believe in evolution my take on it would be that the dinosaurs eventually evolved into chickens.

i guess thats a good way to settle it
