I'm American.
But I also know that when a British person calls fries Chips, that I don't catch an attitude about their choice of words either.
Being that you did exactly that,
I felt a little attitude was in order.
After all, I wouldn't want you to out-do me, now would I?

Chips is just a funny expression to me. I wasn't mocking the limey, I was just having a good ole American chuckle at his word choice, which I respect. I remember seeing Fish and Chips on a menu in Canada once, so it's childhood memories coming back.

And no you wouldn't, but I certainly want you to out-do me. It's a vicious circle, huh.
