Well I do like arty films a lot of the time so that's not really an issue for me, but if there are better Fassbinder films to start with I'm certainly open to suggestions.

We'll I've only see 6 so far (he's made like 40 in the span of 15 years) and haven't really fallen in love with any of them, but I did like Ali: Fear eats the soul and In a Year with 13 Moons. The marriage of Maria Braun also has some strong points. I generally think he had very good ideas (and lots of them apparently), he just wasn't very good at realizing them...or at least not to my (shallow) taste...:\
