it rains almost everyday, its not that good rain that you get on holiday which is warm big splashes.

its freezing cold rain, which soaks you right through, a freezing bed is not acceptable either. i have a red nose almost constantly and thats just in summer .

where you from?

That's pretty much the impression I've always had of Scotland. I have to say I'm apparently one of the few people who likes rain a lot though so it always seems kind of nice to me. Seems very atmospheric.

I grew up in the US just south of Boston, an area which is snowy and bitter cold in the winter and uncomfortably hot and humid in the summer with enormous clouds of mosquitoes. Spring and especially fall are really beautiful there though.

Toronto is also a place where winter and summer are complete opposites of each other. Winter is really cold with lots of snow while summer is hot and humid with an abundance of mosquitoes, bees, wasps etc.

Well, I don't live in Boston anymore. I'm several hours south of there in Philadelphia which has similar weather, just a little bit hotter in the summer and not quite as cold in the winter, but the difference is just a couple of degrees so pretty much the same.

Nice! I've wanted to visit there for a long time. That picture makes me want to go even more.

you should go. i love edinburgh. it has cute little cobblestone streets & everything, almost everywhere you go theres a piece of history. we could swap places . id love to stay in america, never been before, i might go soon, it would be hassle going as my friends would rather go to somewhere in europe (cheap flights), than to america, cos the flights are quite dear. i have reason to go now though, a friend of my is doing a football scolarship over in kansas.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Kansas is one of the least interesting places in the entire US. It's flat, rural, landlocked and smack-dab in the middle of the country, many hours from any place that would be fun to visit. I mean, I'm sure like any place you could probably find some okay things to do there but for your first time visiting the US there are many, many places I could think of that would be much more interesting to visit.
