Speaking of hilarious accents, aren't you from Pittsburgh? Or do I have you confused with someone else.

People with a strong Pittsburgh accent sound like ****ing idiots. The worst part is the radio hosts often try and make themselves sound even stronger just because there in Pittsburgh.

Haha I'm Australian and I NEVER call anyone a spunk. That word was heavily used in Australia in the late 80's but it's pretty cringe worthy to hear someone say it now!

This reminds me of when I took my son, when he was 16, to the UK to visit relatives. We were walking down the road one evening and he was talking to me and these young girls heard him and made a beeline over and made him talk. They wanted him to say G'day and he refused saying he had never said it and never would.

I actually think that a lot of the colloquialisms that Aussies used to say like G'day, Sheila and Fair Dinkum for example may not be as prevalent in the younger city people.

As to Spunk well yeah, when I moved back to Australia in the early 70's it was a well used word and certainly had a different meaning in the UK

So out of curiosity what does it mean in Australia versus in the UK? Because over here you have the dictionary definition which is basically "liveliness" and the slang definition which is "semen".

In Australia it is a slang term used for a good looking individual.
Very Kath and Kim, "Hes a bit of a spunk" said with a nasally twang. Not a show I watched but have been told that it was full of the colloquial sayings.

The Scottish and the Irish accents on the other hand are funny, but I rarely understood a word whenever I talked with any..

Yeah, you wouldn't understand me too well I don't think. My foreign flatmates have a hard time sometimes, especially when I'm drunk

Well goddamnit. I had what I thought would be the fun idea of posting my voice and seeing who could guess exactly where I'm from, and I even went ahead and created a short recording--only to discover I can't upload any audio files . Oh well. I tend to sound like a little girl anyway, so I guess this will just save me the embarrassment of people asking, "How old are you, anyway?"

Btw, I have a particular fondness for Russian and eastern European accents.
