Opinions (WHY?)
 

Why is everyone so opinionated? Why can't people just have positive attitiudes and respect what other people like.

You can be opinionated and respect that of others.

I agree with you wholeheartedly and have nothing of my own to add in case I offend you by speaking on your behalf without your permission.

It's a particularly well run message board with varying opinions, virtually zero spam and trolling. Banter by it's very nature is an amicable exchange of views and you wont find any nasty schizz on these boards that you find on the majority of forums out there. Enjoy your time and chill.

Because it is hard for a human to truly understand why people have different opinions. That is, we take such pride in ours, we have trouble comprehending how one can think so little of something we hold dear. Such as me being confused when people say they don't like Radiohead ;)

I have a huge problem with people who throw around the word "opinion" as if it's some form of shield that deflects any question or disagreement. I don't have to respect your opinion if it's something that's founded on utter bullsh*t. (now before anyone gets angry, I'm using "your" in a collective sense, not directed at any one person). If someone tells me their "opinion" is that the earth is flat, I don't have to respect it, and telling them that they are an idiot does not make me any less of a respectful person, it just means that I don't listen to bullsh*t without calling it.

well, my response is that that's an incredibly arrogant, intolerant and closed-minded view of the world and other people. that's their opinion, and I'm telling them why it's condescending and bigoted.

what you'll learn soon is that everyone here loves to argue. only we dont call it arguing. it's banter. and if everyone just replied with "well, that's an interesting opinion, here's what I think" it would be dull as hell. there are many threads that have gone on like that, and they're in the back pages of the hundreds upon hundreds of pages of threads because everyone got so bored of posting in them

no, most people derive their opinions through a logical thought process. There is reason in it, it is clear to see how they arrived there, and they are able to point at proven facts as points along the way that have lead them to believe what they do. I do not always come to the same conclusion they do, but I can at least respect their opinion.

Now, there are some people who have a total and utter disregard for factual evidence. Who pick and choose facts merely when it suits their purpose and shrug off or ignore those that don't. When people use blind "faith" or an anecdote as fact, then yes, I say "**** their opinion."
