Also, that Wiki article means nothing to me because I'm not American and the word 'preppy' over here means something completely different... it refers to 4 to 5-year-old children who attend a 'preparatory' year before they begin school.

So yeah, don't know what the deal is in the US with all these names and the obsession with grouping people in them.
It's not strictly a US thing, dear. Ever heard the term Chav before?
I assume that you never call anyone douchebag, asshole, or any such umbrella term for particular behaviors demonstrated?

While kids in high school might take clique descriptions seriously, I don't. I'm an adult. I'm not speaking of this crap in a personal context, I'm just explaining that the people in this thread who ARE taking it personal for some weird reason, need to get their heads out of their asses long enough to figure out why.

No, I have never heard of the term Chav. I'm guessing it is British, which I am not. In which case these stereotypes still mean nothing to me.

Of course I have called people by umbrella terms. I said that sometimes it's useful to group people into certain terms. I was just saying that arguing about which terms fit who is what annoys me.

I'm not disagreeing with everything that you've said. I just don't like it when people spend so much time arguing about what fits in which stereotype. It frustrates me. Is all that I was saying.

That's naturally going to happen in this specific thread.
What I was on about was the fact people are getting all butt-hurt because of what high-school kids have tendencies to do.
Big deal. If I had a coronary because I don't agree with the philosophies of some ridiculous 18 year olds, it's time for me to find something else to care about.

Edit:
No offense, cool 18 year olds. I'm talking about douchebag 18 year olds.
(See how efficient stereotypes are?)

Haha really? Nup never heard it. Probably from a different area. The only stereotypes I can think of that we use are 'bogan' which I'm guessing would be the Australian equivalent of 'hillbilly' type thing. Annnd... I dunno I can't really think of anything else. At school we just called the popular kids the popular kids.
