oi, english muba's
I'm enlisting the help of the massive amounts of residents of england on this board. Next semester, I need to complete a 4 month practicum to graduate, and as this will happen in late february, I need to get in gear and start finding places to apply. The restrictions are these:
1) Must be a photography internship with a RESPECTABLE newspaper 2) I have to secure placement and accommodation for wherever I go. That's it. So basically I'm free to go anywhere that will have me, and this is where you come in. I've decided that London would be a great place to do an internship, (if you're really interested in why I'll elaborate later) but I really don't want to unknowingly apply to a trashy tabloid. So, I'd be very thankful if you locals could throw out the names of some of the better newspapers, and some of the ones to avoid. Thanks in advance everyone. Oh, and on the off chance I can get an internship sorted, anyone got a room to spare that I can have for a month? |
Upper class newspapers:
The Daily Telegraph The Independent Financial Times The Guardian The Times Middle Class : Daily Express Daily Mail Working class: Daily Mirror Daily star The Sun The Daily Sport Take your pick although the upper class papers may be a little hard to get into. Good luck. |
The Guardian isn't upper class...it's just a quality paper not aimed at people with the reading age of a 10 year old, like what The Sun and The Star are.
If I was into photography, I'd aim to get myself on at either The Guardian, or The Independent. Forget the "working class" papers, they're just rags. Although they do have the largest sales. |

Definitely 'High Brow', but with a working class ethic. Very anti Conservative, which is what I'd expect from a paper originating In Manchester.
I used to read The Guardian religiously for years before the internet. The Daily Mail wasn't a bad paper up until about 5 years ago. Some of the history essays were brilliant, but they appear less frequently these days and the whole paper seems to lick Tory arse all the time by constantly slagging off the government. |
And I wouldn't wipe my arse with The Sun.
|
I dislike The Mail because of their constant campaign that blames violent films for all of society's ill's. Their latest film to pick on is 'Donkey Punch'. Funnily enough after one of their rants I just want to see the film even more.

So now if you kill someone...it'll be their fault!

Should have finished the 27 off...potential witnesses. :nono:
Killing people gets boring after the first 5 or so. I try not to do it these days, unless money's involved. |
