Your move America

The conflict in Georgia's breakaway South Ossetia region is fast becoming a war between Russia and Georgia, or in other words...East versus West.
With Bush's term coming to an end, it looks like the Ruski's have pulled a fast one.

Question is, what are America going to do about it?

swim 08-08-2008 04:47 PM

Being 100% sincere and looking for a logical answer: Why should we do anything?

adidasss 08-08-2008 05:04 PM

Because you're the world's self-appointed police officer?

right-track 08-08-2008 05:08 PM

Because America are committed to eventually accepting Georgia as a member of NATO and because in return Georgia have the 3rd largest army on active service in Iraq.
And because Russia have backed the U.S. into a political corner and it would be a sign of weakness to stand by and do nothing.
The Russians are testing you swim.

Nothing will be done except some whining in the media, there is no oil in Georgia, no large American presence, no military bases, and the U.S. is one more conflict from thinking of instituting the draft to fill the ranks of their military. After the invasion of sovereign nations themselves what moral authority does the U.S. have now? All that is left is threatening military action without the means to carry it out, for the moment, short of nuclear intervention. Anybody think the Russians will pay any attention to the American's bluster, not after thumbing their noses and installing the missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic despite the Russians vocal objections. The reaction from the Russians should come as no surprise to anyone who pays attention to the geo-political situation in our insane world. I personally like Americans, but this present administration is the worst ever.

I don't see why we should care. And not everybody condones the international policies of administrations of the last half-century.

I seem to remember when England contented herself on being self-righteous bastards. These presumptuous attitudes are getting annoying.

China has more human rights violations in the last fifty years than Europe and North America combined. They may quickly become the world's biggest superpower, but they're not looking to police the globe...or themselves, for that matter. Not at least while "policing the globe" equates to "spreading democracy."

Every empire in the history of the world has fallen,,,you are witnessing the beginning of the end of the U.S. as the dominant force in the world. Besides lucifer_sam your country already has plans to absorb my country, the same way that China did Tibet. My only regret is that we don't have a stockpile of nuclear weapons of our own to tell your government to go **** themselves, it seems to be the only thing your country understands. Oh and if you forget the lessons of history you are doomed to repeat them,,,the fall of the Soviet Union represented a turning point in the history of our world, and what did the U.S. do with this once in a lifetime chance, tried to create a Pax Americana empire instead of leading the free world into a new era of enlightenment. History will judge this as a complete disaster anyway you look at it. It is too bad for Georgia but they are going to lose this struggle with Russia. I still like Americans but your politicians are the worst in the history of your country, they have dismantled the ability of the middle class to function and transferred millions of jobs to China which uses slave labour to produce the goods you buy at Wal-Mart etc., tell me how this helps the average American in any way. Certainly helps the bottom line of the large companies benefiting from the open trade agreements you have with China. And the Chinese are supporting the government in Sudan which is committing genocide in Darfur as we sit here and exchange ideas online. Follow the money and you follow the U.S. foreign policy...too bad it could have been a better world if there was such a thing as compassionate capitalism. At this time in history we don't have a better option, but the next generation will have to come up with a better alternative than the one that would destroy the whole world to meet a quarterly profit margin projection.

I'm not saying America is perfect or right. But it serves no purpose to belittle and condemn a nation which is acting from moral and political principle, not economic ethic. And as far as I can tell, we aren't collectively committing any atrocities. Whenever you fuckers learn to acknowledge bigger, more demanding problems in the world, then I might start to accept these ridiculous assertions. What's the rest of the world doing about the human rights violations in China, the genocide in Darfur, or the political oppression in Chechnya?

There's bigger fucking problems in the world. Get off our cocks.
