![]() My Boston accent is mostly gone at this point or so I'm told, and I have more of a generic American accent (although I've had several people tell me I sound like I'm Canadian), but get me drunk, especially if I'm with friends back home, and the accent begins to resurface. |

It is weird. I've heard that one of the ways linguists study regional accents is by getting people to talk about their childhood or about their grandparents. For whatever reason those things help people regress back to their roots. Maybe alcohol does the same kind of thing.
