keep in mind that federal critics almost ALWAYS over exaggerate their position in order to draw more media attention to further their personal political ends. especially with a minority government that isn't exactly riding high in popularity polls.

i'll most definitely be keeping an eye on bill C-61 but i'm not really worried yet. i can't see it passing through parliament as its currently written - which is also reflected in that article.

it's only a matter of time before digital media usage is legislated but to consider the birth of a 'police state' is sensationalizing the issue quite a bit. if you're really concerned about it write a letter to your local MP over the summer and send it to scott brison and michaelle jean at the same time.

i actually think the conservatives chose a good time to introduce the bill. it'll allow people to think it over during the summer and contact their representatives to better prepare them to debate and amend the bill prior to its 2nd and 3rd readings.

now if the anti-circumvention clause is still in the bill on the 3rd reading then there might be a good reason to visit parliament hill. as it stands right now it's just a bad idea on the part of the ministry of industry of canada.
Exactly.

Well said.
