Thinking of buying a new computer

It's been a while since I've bought one and I'm a little out of the loop, so can someone try to recommend some configuration up to 1500$ (or 700 punds), please? Just the box, no screen etc...

I'd recommend alienware but that can be pricey.

On Hp's site they offer a build it yourself system. I have only had great things to say about it, and they have helped me out along the way.

I've got a dell XPS and it's great for gaming and everything else, it was pretty expensive though...
