Anyone know anything about mold??
Hey, i am buying a house and there seems to be something growing in one of the toilets. i was hoping someone may be able to tell me what it is, or if its even mold before i pay $300 for someone to come and take samples or before i just have the toilet replaced. heres a pic and thanks for the help.

looks like mold. just looks like it hasn't been cleaned in forever. you can get spray bathroom cleaner that kills mold (it specifically says so on the bottle). just make sure it's not growing under the tiles or in the walls. so long as the toilet didn't overflow you 'should' be ok. the fact that the grout between the tiles isn't black in the pic is a good sign.
i would not skimp on cleaning products. spray 9 claims to kill HIV on the bottle. even after cleaning it with some hardcore sprays i'd still give it some good lysol loving to disinfect everything before even thinking about sitting on there. actually i'd just get a new seat and bleach the bowl. have you bought the house yet? or still in the negotiation stage? if money hasn't changed hands yet i'd ask for that issue to be handled before signing anything. there are always other houses out there. |

I am not being flippant here but is there no 'U' in the American spelling of Mould? Well I never.
BTW. It is mildew and easily removable.
