you can get dread kits and dread shampoo so you dont have to look like a dirty hippy, so there are ways of getting dreads without getting them done professionaly or never washing your hair. some guys can pull it off really well, others just look retarded, like this kid I knew who had bright orange hair, dont get dreads with bright orange hair (natural hair colour).
