there's stuff i can remember that was awesome...
going to six flags and thinking it was the shit listening to creed and thinking it was the shit not losing my virginity for the longest time because the girl and i were too shy to do anything more than stare at each other and kiss sleepovers actually caring whenever a new video game came out using adjectives that neither made sense or were appropriate being scared to use the word "fuck" having fun at parties where there was absolutely no alcohol or females to speak of making fun of potheads just being young and naive in general calling and talking to friends for no other reason than i missed them (i'm a dude btw) not caring about what job i'm going to have, where i'm going to live or what i'm going to do in the coming years

Wow...that brought back memories. My friends and I used to rock the couples skate back in the day.
Some things I miss are: Walking to the dollar cinema with my brothers during the summer Listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn on long road trips with the family Thundercats He-Man Fraggle Rock Shoving as many friends as I could into my car and driving around downtown Houston aimlessly Kickball 4-Square

Nostalgia; as follows,
I used to wake up in the morning on saturdays and watch the Sid and Marty Krofft shows, Sigmund the sea monster, Dune Buggy, Dr. Shrinker, The Buggaloos, Astro-nuts, and don't forget H.R. Pufnstuf! I'd play With my G.I.Joes ( the big ones) and my Mom and Dad would be on the front porch drinking coffee, Dad smoking his ever present Vantage ciggarette. American top 40 with Casey Kasem, "this is a long distance dedication from Dale stationed at Fort Bragg to Denise, his high school sweetheart..." Grand Funks Locomotion was my favorite song, and i wanted to be a Warrior. I'd give just about anything to wake up on one of those saturday mornings again, but not the saturday I stole a twenty out of my Moms purse and tried to spend it all on 7-11 slurpees to get all the Marvel comic book hero collector cups... that didn't work.
He-man and Thundercats were cool but Robotech ruled.

I miss thinking bands like Quiet Riot were cool simply because my older brother liked them.
I miss Superfriends. I miss that old Star Wars anti-smoking ad that had R2D2 smoking a cigarette and C-3PO scolding him about it. I miss the early days of MTV when Martha Quinn was a VJ. I miss my Nike Vandals. I miss when challenging your neighbors to a race was a totally normal thing to do. I miss my Bugs Bunny electric toothbrush. |
