Of course the area can support it. All the urb's are upgraded to take into account the bandwidth. Cable is the best ISP by far. I have managed to download an album in 90 seconds before now so I would say it's quite reliable and I can let a little drop if i am getting a 150% speed increase for nothing.

For some reason I thought you were on dial up.
The best deal I've seen so far for dial up is PlusNet. They're the one with the 30GB per month deal. The attractive thing about it is they can optimise how you use your time on the PC. In other words (due to shared bandwidth) they'll monitor how you use use the web and prioritise what you use the most. That way, the ones you're sharing the bandwidth with all get a fair go...unlike Orange who just let the whole thing grind to a standstill. The only thing with cable is obviously having the phone too, but I have been with cable for nearly 8 years and was one of the first persons I know to start with broadband way back. On dial up the futher you live from the exchange then your speed drops. I enquired on the offchance and the most I could get on dial up is 4 meg so not for me. Not so with cable as it's fibre optic cable. They have plans for a 50 meg connection within the next 12 months-yowser.

Now this is serious speed. The WHOLE Encyclopaedia Britannica (32,640 pages of it) sent in less than seven seconds!
World's fastest internet will send Britannica to Shoreditch in 7 sec - Times Online

Yeah unfortunately upload speed across the board is very low in the UK. Probably to deter from privacy. I can upload @ 748 k/s.

Yeah it is but I rarely upload anyhow so if I do I can put up with the slow speed but compared to down speed it is not the greatest really.
