Inferiority complex?

I honestly don't believe that most canadians do have an inferiority complex. We simply resent being contstantly measured against the united states. Our history is vastly different and the ways in which our country is governed is very different as well. A lot of people looking in from the outside (meaning outside north america) see canada as simply a less populated version of the states. The only canadians i've ever met who I could say have an inferiority complex are VERY conservative people who wish they lived in the US.

Good things about being Canadian?

Free health care, as mentioned. No one with my history of hospital visits could deny that we've got problems, HUGE problems with our health care system. However, I do believe that we will eventually find a way to iron these out (and for alberta at least, FINALLY getting rid of klein was a big first step), and I'd much rather live in a country that believes strongly in providing a safety net for those who would otherwise be unable to afford health care. Yeah we pay higher tax dollars, but call me a socialist, hell call me a dirty pinko commi but I would rather be unable to afford a porsche with my hard earned money than see our country turn into the united states. Having said that, I think we do need a two teir health plan. Hopefully one good thing that the conservatives will do while in power (this coming from someone who has always voted liberal) will be to take the steps neccesary to make this happen.

another good thing about living in canada, the space! my god the space!! I'm extremely proud to say that in canada, you can still go places where you are TRULY in the middle of nowhere. no cities, no roads, hell not even any dirt paths will interupt the wilderness in some areas of the country. I love that people dont look at you funny if you smile at a stranger. I love that anywhere I travel in the world, people will smile and say "OH CANADA!! WONDERFUL!" (or something to that extent) when I say where I'm from.

what don't i like about canada? I dont like that for the past 14 years my home province was ruled by an alcoholic hick. I don't like that Canada has one of the worst (or perhaps even the worst) record for greenhouse gas emmisions in the world. I don't like that we're letting our health care system go down the ****ter because the government refuses to pay competive wages for doctors and nurses and refuses to look towards new solutions for a system that hasnt been working for decades (read: two teir system). but, despite it all, I can't say that there's a single country I would rather call home. Maybe NZ, but i'm far too much of a canadian now to turn into a kiwi.

good movies and music have already been mentioned, but how the f*ck has everyone forgotten Fubar!?
