Even if the reasons for commiting suicide seem frivolous to us, suicide in people so young is distressing to read and hints at huge socio-economic-emotional problems that we are obviously not addressing. My son is 14 so this is distressing reading.
There is also this: Girl, 16, is latest Bridgend suicide victim - Telegraph It is all too easy to laugh at the EMO slant but there are much deeper issues at work here and the use of a musical movement to justify the reasons could be seen as hyperbole.

The first article is written by a person who obviously has no idea what emo is and is using the term as an angle for the story.
The British press have a nasty habit of doing this kind of thing and in this case, like many others, have dangerously missed the point. It's articles like that, written by so called journalists, that make me sick to the stomach with the way the press operate over here. |

I don't really think the child abuse here is the emo trend. I think the child abuse is going "Oh they did this because they listen to My Chemical Romance." There's been a growing media trend of blame emo for teenage depression for years and I think when it peaks its going to be ridiculous.
