Default Why are people fat?

I have several theories of why I think people are fat.

1. Genetical/Hereditary problem
2. Certain folks in our society need to look down on others, and so the more submissive types accomodate them in this strange manner.
3. Junk food/Fattening food is much cheaper than healthy food.
4. Simple lack of self-esteem, and trying to fill some kind of void.
5. There are many people who were once young and athletic, and the way they enjoyed sports was through intimidating others, rather than just playing for the love of the game. Once these people start getting on in years, and think others can intimidate them, they lose a big part of their identity, and suffer identity problems and become fat.

You may disagree with this, but I have witnessed first hand, "cool" people making light of others' weight. It sickens me. Are people doing fat people a service by noticing their problem, or showing them pity? I think we should be more compassionate towards these people, because we are largely products of our environment, and if someone is fat, and has low self esteem, there is probably a very good reason for it. But, as I said above some people are probably fat, because they did it to themselves. Either way, it seems counterproductive to act really nice to their face, and talk sh*t about them behind their back. We are supposed to be a free country. Why can't we let other people be?

I don't think we have a right to make "fun" of other people who are fat, but your also doing them an injustice if you don't try to steer them in the right direction.
But what it comes down to is simply, lack of exercise and too much **** food. It's common knowledge, there isn't much debate going on as to what the causes are...

People don't need to be snacking, and certainly don't need the ridiculous serving sizes we have here in the U.S.
I was at the 5-8 club the other day, just looking at somebody eat a "Juicy Luicy" and was disgusted.
Maybe i will have a different opinion once i age and my metabolism slows down.

A lot of them are fat, because they can only afford to eat garbage foods, but as for other people who are fat, I don't know what we can do to steer them in the right direction. If you so much as mention their weight to them, you might come off as patronizing, and I can understand if they get defensive, because I don't know them. I shouldn't pass judgment. Like, I said, there are many different reasons people are fat, so how could you help them, if you don't know what the problem is?

People are fat because they like to eat.

Yes, but why don't a lot of those people like to exercise? Could it be that our psychological warfare and bullying have caused them great reticence?

Wanting to participate and enjoy in exercise isn't vain you fatf*ck. It's healthy.
For instance, I love exercising, but I generally do it alone, because I find that where most people congregate to exercise is generally a place that is set up to congratulate a few and laugh at others. I don't really enjoy this or find it beneficial to the over all health of society.
