The next thing from Nintendo
So Mario Kart Wii and GTA4 are both out. Both are awesome games and I really shouldn't care much about the next game that is worth anything. But oddly enough, I have been following different ideas from Nintendo. Nintendo has been way to family friendly for me for many years now. But that doesn't change the fact that they keep doing things that catch my interest. The Wii is the only system to really take gaming to the next level. To play, you move more than just your thumbs. As it turns out, Nintendo wants you to now move more than just your arms. Introducing the "Balance board". So the thing is an add on for the Wii and comes with the game Wii Fit. Now you may be asking what else you can use it for. By what I hear, Activision has signed on and will be making a skateboarding that uses the balance board. I could easily see many sports games using this system. Not only is it an awesome idea for gaming, it is also making games good for more than eye-hand coordination. It comes out in late May for about $90.
It might just end up being for a cult following, but I almost wonder if holodecks started out this way.

i heard it was supposed to be a snowboarding game.
either way nintendo has ALWAYS been a family friendly company. the wii didn't so much move gaming up a level but offer the consumers a completely new direction to turn. it's a system for people who want to have fun as opposed to a system for hardcore gamers who get all hot and bothered over stats. this also isn't the first time nintendo tries incorporating physical activity with its games either. there was the 'power pad' back in the 80s that came with a decathlon style game where players would run and jump on the pad to control their characters. N has always lead the way for innovative new technologies in video games. Power Pad - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia i also watched GTA4 last night for about 10 minutes before getting bored. i'm really hoping fallout3 lives up to its hype and predecessors. |

Mario Kart for wii was surprisingly good with the wheel. However, it seems like the only people who can get the motion control right are Nintendo. And its disappointing that all their major franchises are played better with the game cube controller.
