There is somewhat of a case that can be made for astrology. I don't care about planets governing behavior and what not. However, have you ever asked yourself why the zodiac constellations are imaged as they are--ram, bull, twins, crab, lion, virgin, scales, scorpion, archer, water-goat, water-bearer and fish? The beginning of the year for the ancient cultures was in spring--March--so Aries the ram starts the year. He leads the others. The bull is the ox who pulls the plow in April to begin the planting. The twins of May represent the sprouting of the crop, multiplying. The crab occurs in June when the summer solstice occurs. The solstice passes, the days get shorter than the night and the year, once waxing, is now waning--it reverses direction, like a crab scuttling from side to side. In fact, if you watch the sunrise throughout the year in fast motion, the sun would resemble the crab's movement, appearing to scuttle from side to side--moving northward during the waxing year and southward during the waning year. The lion occurs in July because that is when the sun is at its hottest. The lion is the sun, his mane is the sun's rays. The solar lion is in his glory in July. The virgin occurs in August because that is the time that crop yield has peaked. The fields produce no more for the year and so are like a virgin. Then come the scales of September when the balance of what was sown must be reaped. The autumnal equinox occurs in this month and so the daylight hours and night hours are balanced. Then comes the scorpion in October. The scorpion is mythologically the dragon of darkness because the balance has shifted and the dark hours outnumber the light hours in a day. Scorpions hunt at night and are not seen in daylight. As soon as sunlight hits them, they scurry for the nearest cover. The reason is that the scorpion has no defense against the sun's rays. The sun's light kills a scorpion and so it must get out of the sunlight as quickly as possible. Then comes the archer in November. He is the Hero who will rescue the earth from the clutches of the dark, cold giant--winter. Half-man and half-horse, he is the intelligent animal, different from all the others in nature--us. His arrow is that of consciousness which pierces to find light and slay the winter beast. Then comes the water-goat in December. Goat in the front and fish in the back, represents the death and rebirth of the year. The goat in Egyptian was Ab which is the also the word for salt. In the Egyptian winter, the Nile dried up and the salt settled on the soil of the delta. When spring came, the waters from the mountains in the south filled the Nile riverbed making it teem with life (symbolized by the fish) and irrigating the soil so that the Egyptians could farm for another year and stave off famine. So the arrow of the archer shoots the goat of winter allowing for the promise of spring and a return of life. Indeed the image of Capricorn shows the goat dying the front and the fish tail in the act of slapping at the water with vigor and life: Then comes the water-bearer in January. The Hero, having slain the goat of winter and transformed death into life, scoops up the waters of life to pour over the land and sea, i.e. the floodwaters of the Nile running to the sea while irrigating the land. Then come the fishes of February, the waters arrive, life begins anew and the spring starts again to be lead off by the ram. |

The 72 virgins that the Muslim nutjobs are dying for is a misunderstanding of astrology. The zodiac is comprised of 12 constellations that touch the ecliptic (the sun's apparent path through the sky). Each constellation is 30 degrees long.
The Egyptians divided each constellation into three 10-degree sections. They chose three non-zodiacal constellations to signify when each 10-degree section started, these constellations rose 10 days apart (because 1 day=1 degree). These three constellations were called decans. Since there were three for each of the 12 signs, there were 36 decans in all. Then each decan was divided in half--two 5-degree sections. These 5-degree sections were called quinaries. Since are two quinaries for all 36 decans then there are 72 quinaries. There are your 72 virgins in heaven. In some cultures, they had 70 instead of 72. |

Virtually all religions are based on astrology and astronomy going back into prehistoric times.
An image of Taurus the bull at the Lascaux Cave from 16,500 years ago! The seven stars above the shoulder of the bull are the Pleiades and the belt of Orion is seen on the left. Compare that with more modern depictions of Taurus demonstrating our star map images are so ancient that they go back before modern human collective memory: In this depiction showing both Orion and Taurus, we see the Old Testament story of Samson. In the story, Samson (Shimson or “Sun-Man”) slays a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of an ass and then “he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramathlehi. And he was sore athirst…[b]ut God clave an hollow place in the jaw, and there came water thereout” (Judges 15:17-19). Now look at the image above. Orion is Samson and his left arm reaches up towards the jaw of Taurus which is the ass in the story. After slaying the Philistines, he is thirsty and God causes water to come out of the jaw. The water is the star cluster Hyades, the rainy daughters of Atlas, located in the jaw area and from whose name comes such words as “hydration.” Ramathlehi means “height of the jawbone” and refers to this area of the heavens (Rama was also an Indian solar deity that created the 12 signs of the zodiac). This was the sun entering Taurus. Earlier, Samson also slew a lion (and coincidentally, Orion has a lion pelt slung over his arm) and found a swarm of bees in the lion’s carcass. The lion is Leo and the beehive is a nearby star cluster: The meaning was that Samson the Celestial Hero releases the flood waters (the honey) of the Nile to bring life to the parched earth. So Samson killing the lion with his bare hands was the sun entering Leo. The sun is strongest in Leo (and is called the ruler of Leo in astrology) and weakest in the sign opposite Leo in the zodiac which is Aquarius which the Hebrews originally called Delilah and in the story she shaves off his hair—the rays of the sun—so that he loses his power (Delilah means “One who weakened”). Delilah is the same as Lilith. Her name starts with the Hebrew “D” called daleth or “door” and the Proto-Semitic root “LYL” means “night.” She is the door to night. The door is what is known in astrology as the "cusp" through which the sun enters Aquarius and promptly loses his brightness and power at that time of year. Samson’s hair grows back as he moves onto the sign of Pisces, the two fish, which is the last sign in the zodiac, and there he dies between two pillars, a variation of the two fish, bringing an entire house down on top of him—the 12 houses of the zodiac which collapse at the end of the year. |

The thing that makes all religions lies is that each took this mythological Celestial Hero and made him into a personage they claimed was historically real and this happened over and over again--Wittoba, Krishna, Zoroaster, Buddha, Jesus, Mohammad, etc.
In Revelation 12:1-6, we get the story of the virgin birth retold in a totally different way from the gospels: 1And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: 2And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. 3And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. 5And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. 6And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. Now, this is clearly not taking place on earth but in the heavens. Essentially, we are looking at a celestial map or star chart and the writer is narrating the story depicted on it. The woman is Virgo. The crown of 12 stars is the zodiac--the Virgin Queen of Heaven, Mary. The sun is passing through her constellation so she is said to be pregnant. As she is delivering her child, i.e. as the sun is exiting Virgo, the dragon of darkness crouches at her feet waiting. this is Scorpio. Where is Libra? This is a very old star chart made before Libra existed. Back then, the scales were the claws of the scorpion. The sun is passing through autumn and entering the dark months. His tail draws down a third part of the stars because those are the stars that fall below the horizon in winter. This is an important clue because the tail of the dragon is known in astrology as cauda draconis. Earlier, the passage above stated that the woman stood with the moon under her feet. So she stood at the North Lunar Node which is called caput draconis or "head of the dragon" when the moon crosses north of the ecliptic. But the dragon of darkness crouches at the South Lunar Node or cauda draconis, which, in astrology, is a bad portent, when the moon crosses south of the ecliptic. The South Lunar Node is located today at 0 degrees Libra but would have been in Scorpio back then since there was no Libra. The North Lunar Node occurs at 0 degrees Aries. So the virgin is impregnated in spring and gives birth in the fall to resume her virgin state. The woman gives birth knowing the dragon wants to devour the child but the child is protected and the woman flees into the wilderness. This is the gospel story of Mary fleeing to Egypt with the baby Jesus to escape the deadly wrath of Herod whose soldiers are massacring all infants under two years of age (never actually happened, btw). She lives in the wilderness for 1,260 days. That's about 3 1/2 years or half a cycle of seven. Converted into months, we go from September, October, November, half of December. Now she must retrieve her child. On the other half of the cycle, we go from the other half of December and all of January, February and March where spring and the New Year begin at 0 degrees Aries. At that point, the protected son/sun is now waxing strong and light vanquishes the dark and the earth reborn into a virgin state ready to be impregnated with life. |

The Greek Old Testament is called the Septuagint which means "seventy." The story goes that 70 scholars were hired to translate the scriptures into Greek independently of each other and when their finished translations were compared, they matched up perfectly. And if you believe that, I some prime real estate at the bottom of Lake Superior you may be interested in. The Seventy refers to the quinaries of the zodiac.
They are referred to again in Luke 10:1 which reads: "After this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to come." But remember that other cultures had 72 quinaries instead of 70. The above quoted verse was from the RSV bible whereas the NIV bible reads: "After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go." Although some may call this an error in the translations, there is no error once we understand that the various religious scriptures are astrological allegories rather than histories. One culture had 70 quinaries and another had 72. Neither is wrong. |

Matthew 2:1-2 reads:
[1] Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, [2] Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. Luke 8-12 reads: [8] And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. [9] And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. [10] And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. [11] For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. There are some strange discrepancies here. Matthew calls them wise men. Luke says there were mere shepherds. And why do we call them the THREE wise men when, in fact, neither gospel tells us how many there were? That comes from an Egyptian tradition that referred to them as the three kings. And who are these three? Well, Matthew gives us the clue: ...there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. See the problem? If the wise men were EAST of Jerusalem and yet saw his star in the EAST, then how did they then end up going WEST into Jerusalem??? The story is an old Egyptian mnemonic device. In the constellation of Orion, his outstretched left hand is marked by a star designated as pi. The Egyptian priests watched for Orion as he rose over the eastern horizon. They saw pi first and then watched for the three stars in the belt that appeared to be following it. So the star in the east is Pi Orion and the three kings are the three stars in the belt. They are first seen in the east following the star in the east and end up following it westward. So understanding the story as astronomy rather than a historical occurrence avoids assuming the writer made an embarrassing blunder. No mistake was made. Properly understood, the story of the three kings makes perfect sense. |
