Now you see these pictures and are angry that he could do this for such a dog, you join a facebook group or whatever to shut him down. But wait. We missed the point a little.

He PURPOSELY wanted to bring this issue to attention, I'm not agreeing with his methods, but we certainly wouldn't be arguing over this **** if he just took some rich folks into an animal shelter now would we?

He made a martyr of this dog that was seen as a rat and now everyone is riled about it. Maybe, just maybe-and I'm going out on a limb here. Maybe we should take this message and not waste our time with petitions or facebook groups, and actually help out these animals not that we're aware.

2 cents from someone who can't sleep and seeing the bigger picture.
A few major problems with your post.

1. She mentioned nothing about joining a facebook group.
2. Even the-Starving-Artless who was arguing the same point admitted to not knowing the artists intent.
3. You don't think it's a bit messed up to make a martyr of an consenting animal?

I was not the one to join a facebook petition, what the hell is that going to do? HOW can you possibly make a martyr of a dog who does not even know what a martyr is?

If this was a starving child from Africa people would be reacting very differently.

He is only adding to the problem. Why not show the dog at his worst then make him better? Poor dog died with no dignity.

I know you didn't join a facebook group I was going off of what someone else said.

And like all "art" it open to interpretation, personally, making this dog a martyr is sick and twisted. Perhaps martyr was the wrong word, sacrifice perhaps?

Either way I just hoped it impacted someone to get inolved, and truly hope he never does something like this again.

Sacrifice is even worse. It just reminds me of the words 'slaughter' thanks to Jesus.

I of course hope nothing like this happens ever again. Your man who did this is obviously very hated now I mean I think he should starve himself too.

actually, I have read that the dog did not die, but was in fact released by the art gallery after the exhibit was done. I don't know for sure - but neither do you know for sure that it died, either, I believe.

"I knew the dog died on the following day from lack of food"

did you even read the link?

that is, of course, if the link is correct.

I feel sick, I just read on another site that food and water was left just out of reach of the dog

Starving Animals is an Artform. Costa Rica Agrees. | Softly Dreaming Blog

what a bastard.

I didn't read that one, but on other sites I've read that the dog was let free after. Perhaps it died the day after the exhibit when it was let free.

in the same passage that you quoted that from...

"The dog was extremely ill and did not want to eat, so in natural surroundings it would have died anyway"

As well,

“I won’t say the dog died. The importance to me is the hypocrisy of the people where an animal is the focus of attention where people come to see art but not when it’s in the street starving to death.”

But the fact is the dog could still have been rescued, I know, I used to work with animals just like this. Even if he did put that food just out of reach of the dog, how ****ing cruel.

He is the hypocrite.

ok, I am not responding on this subject any more, because it's obvious that you will not change your mind in any way, and I don't think my opinion is going to change either.

The artist himself said several times the dog died.

You need to follow his statements closer, he's tripping over his own contradictions if you read around.

"the dog would have died anyway"
"I cannot say if the dog died or not"
"I wanted to do it to remember Mr.Natividad Canda" (a burglar killed by guard dogs)
"I did the exhibition to show the terrible situation of street dogs"
