Wow.
well the posters I've seen on these new boards aren't 16 year olds who think the universe is out to get them, so I'm sorry I posted the link here. Also, if you were just complaining about politics being too opinionated, why are you here? Kill yourself. Next, if you're going to complain about something, you may want to know what you're talking about. Restrcitions in the grand scheme have enabled more freedoms than they've taken away. So a smoking ban here (which I'm against) and a cell phone law there (which i'm for, and I'm guessing a few of you can't drive), you've still be granted many more freedoms (if you're in the U.S. anyway) from other people than you have been restricted. And opinions are more welcoming than anything else. The most loathesome thing I've heard in these debates is that we ought to go about accepting everything and not arguing. Its the spice of life, it gives things color, and just because people might tell you you're a ****ing idiot for thinking the way you do, it isn't a bad thing. Grow a spine, fight them back, and stop restricting what people can say lest you come off as a Big Brother tracking unit of the American government...****.

Those are pretty interesting freedoms though, in that if somebody light up in a bar and everybody is happy with it then nobody will stop them and the law won't be enforced. If the smoking is annoying somebody, then out comes the smoking ban and away goes the cigarette. It's quite similar with drugs and cell phone laws, that if somebody's drug use or cell phone use is causing a nuisance to others then they are much more likely to be reprimanded than somebody who is using drugs but not causing any trouble or who is talking on a phone while driving without their driving becoming erratic.

Ee, that is very true. The easiest thing to do is not go their if you can't stand the smoking. Bars are not for children to be in or anyone that does not like smoking. Oh and other thing what about the Global Warming thing the government claims is real and I think is just a scam because I do not see warm weather around here it is rather cold. Going Green is completely a lie to get more control over what we are allowed to do. Like I said "what next?"

Yes, I like politics. I used to hate them. That's because in high school, I was naive, and thought, 'the government will do its job, and I will do mine'. I figured as long as politicians were generally doing what was best for the country, then I had no reason to get involved. So, my outlook changed for 2 reasons:
1. Our world is full of liars - particularly self-serving politicians, but everyone in general 2. The current administration has forced us to all become aware of politics. We can't take politics for granted anymore, because, if we're not paying attention, they will sweep the rug of freedom right out from under us. I'm not just talking laws, I'm also referring to mind control. I'll take a moment to talk about The Fair Tax. This is a really great idea, and if you haven't heard of it, I suggest you look it up. Enacting the Fair Tax would essentially put a stop to any deductions coming out of your paycheck. No more paying federal tax, or social security. I'm not too sure about state income tax, but obviously you would be keeping at least 90% of your check. Then, the tax is paid in the market. Instead of having a roughly 6-7% tax on what you pay now (i.e. merchandise-coke bottle, pack of cigarettes, IPOD), that suddenly becomes 20%-30%) Now, of course, people are so stupid, that when they get rung up they're going to be like 'what, this bag of pixie stix was only 99 cents, not a buck 20. Can't a person just go to the store and buy straws full of sugar without having such damage done to them?' The great thing about this is: 1. The rich people, or people who are spending the most money are the ones who are going to be taxed the most. 2. The poorer people, or the people who are spending the least amount of money will be taxed the least. 3. If you are poor, or in a financial pinch, you can really lessen your tax burden by choosing to not buy stuff other than bare necessities. You can also use the tax as a political statement. If you're unhappy with your government, and the way they're currently handling certain issues, you can make a political statement by simply not purchasing items. |
