Time vs Money

They both feed off of each other in a weird way. However, which actually has more value from a strictly business and ambition chasing aspect and why?

sweet_nothing 03-23-2008 04:57 PM

oh i thought this thread was about the pink floyd songs....i like time better

hell yeah. based on that criterion i will declare that time has more value than money

pheurton 03-24-2008 03:45 PM

Money,
cuts time in half.

sweet_nothing 03-24-2008 03:46 PM

money fades but time will always remain

sweet_nothing 03-24-2008 03:48 PM

time will continue when you die, time stops for no one.

sleepy jack 03-24-2008 04:02 PM

You don't know that.

I was pointing out the obvious to your statement,
there's no logic behind your statement bar
trying to make me look like a twat;
but instead you're coming up short by refuting
your previous notion that time > money
by admitting I was right in the first place.

sweet_nothing 03-24-2008 05:53 PM

you do know that the last remark was sarcasim?

Maybe there is no such thing as the world or anything. Maybe everything is an figment of your imagination and all of us are just little characters and places are just places thought up in your head and when you die everything will cease to exist.

chartsengrafs 03-24-2008 05:56 PM

i think it's funny that there seem to be people who really believe that

There was nothing to be sarcastic about,
that's the whole point. I could've taken
any one of your posts and made a sarcastic
remark as so:

There was nothing to mock,
because the discussion
had no point bar philosophic jargon.

If the world is a figment of his imagination, where is he? Unless the laws of physics are a figment of his imagination to.

right-track 03-24-2008 06:38 PM

It could be a trick question.
There are many kinds of time.

It's obvious what he means by money, but what does he mean by time?

ProggyMan 03-24-2008 06:41 PM

The ability to control time? A specified amount of time? To compare them you have to find a way to get an equal amount of time and money. How do you do that?

pheurton 03-24-2008 06:42 PM

have a wank on live television?

ProggyMan 03-24-2008 06:43 PM

The thread title is Time Vs. Money, he doesn't ask to compare.

ProggyMan 03-24-2008 06:58 PM

But don't you have to, to see which is more valuable?

right-track 03-24-2008 07:01 PM

Not necessarily.

Sitting in a pub with god, jesus and the holy spirit.

ProggyMan 03-24-2008 07:05 PM

I don't see how...

The Unfan 03-24-2008 07:05 PM

Time as in time spent persuing something and not spent on a "job."

For instance if you're a professional poker player which is more valuable between time spent practicing poker and money to give you transportation and get into the next poker tournament? Or if you're in a band which is more valuable between money for equipment and travel and time spent writing the music? Do they have equal value?

ProggyMan 03-24-2008 07:09 PM

Ah. Time spent making money, or time spent practicing a way to make money.

Try comparing money to a particular period, or part of duration, whether past, present, or future... a point, or portion of duration; e.g; the time was, or has been; the time is, or will be and you'll see what I mean.

right-track 03-24-2008 07:21 PM

Indulge me, I'm bored...

ProggyMan 03-24-2008 07:25 PM

But that's my point...You can't compare them, but how else can you determine which is more valuable?

ProggyMan 03-24-2008 07:37 PM

That explains a lot.

pheurton 03-25-2008 04:14 AM

I wish sweet_nothing would actually argue, instead of pussy footing out most of the time he throws around penniless remarks =[

Gackt21 03-25-2008 08:59 AM

Has anyone heard the saying "Time is money." I believe your boss has said that to you. In the bible time says that if you live by time it should be Gods time. God cares not how much money you have.

When you have not enough money you learn to live without alot of things that others might have. Time on the other hand must not be wasted or at the end of life you will feel like you did not make use of your time.

Just making a couple points. Tell me what you think.

Money has more value. I think that can be empirically observed. Most people who have lived over 100 years have achieved very little (business-wise) with their lives, whereas people born to extreme wealth can achieve a lot of the things they want to achieve a lot more easily than most other people. Money grants you equipment, training, education etc. and the more you have the more such benefits. Time does give you the opportunity to enhance your abilities so that you can make the most of the opportunities that DO arise, but money gives you a lot more opportunities so the odds are on the side of money.

For example an amazing poker player sat at the table with no money can win nothing. A crappy player with a hundred pounds/dollars has the worst case scenario of losing that money, in which case they are in the same situation as the guy with no money. Any other situation they leave the table with more. Obviously that ignores the question of what they had to do to get the money to begin with.

655321 03-25-2008 06:57 PM

im fairly broke but i can always get more money, more drugs, more booze, more furniture, more friends what ever i want or need with exception to time
i only have some much time in life that i can enjoy

Agreeable, however, what good is an opportunity if you can't make good use of it? Which in a way proves both are very requisite in modern society. Finding the proper balance between time and money seems to be the determining factor in success. So how should one balance the two?
