ok, i was wondering about this the other day. What stops Atheists from murdering people? i mean i reckon that each atheist has doubt in the back of his/her's mind and that they think their actually could be a god. because if they seriously believe they are right, then why is life important? arnt we just a useless sack of bones and meat? and everything is meaningless?
Im just curious, and wanted to talk about it, thanks.

what stops christians or muslims from murdering people? nothing. religion or your secular beliefs seem to have no correlation with sin or acts of violence. your assumption that believing in a higher being equals a significant, relevant life is confusing to me. i dont agree that we live to worship or believe in a god.
but whatever. people are allowed to believe in whatever they find clever. religion is the reason for all dispute and hatred in the world, when all religions are essentially the same- you have faith in something you cannot necessarily prove, and you are rewarded for having such faith. respect other peoples secular beliefs, because in the end, no one can prove anything. science will forever be the blabbermouth who tells everyone how the movie ends.

jesus christ are you serious? do you honestly believe that morals are tied so firmly to belief in god, and that if a person doesn't believe in a higher power they have no sense of right and wrong? there is more to life than hoping to go to heaven, I think most ahtiests believe that spending your entire life in order to prepare for some judgement deciding weather you'll spend the rest of eternity in bliss or torment is completely ludicrous. My way of looking at it is that worrying about heaven and hell is a complete and utter waste of your life, and you should be more concerned about the way YOU want to spend your life, not about how a book describes the rules and guidelines of living a virtuous life.
