I can't talk to her when she is mad. It just doesn't work. I have had some small success talking to her when she isn't mad but it doesn't take long before she throws away my attempts at being understanding and just forgets anything positive we had between us. I think a large part of that comes from the fact that she is SUPER stubborn and says things she doesn't mean to get a reaction out of me.

What this does is she will exaggerate how horrible I am but since she is so stubborn she will have to believe all the exaggerated things she said when she looks back and because of that she will HAVE to ignore any of the positive things that I do in order for her to remain consistent. I swear I feel like I have a aneurism when she does this, nothing I can think of frustrates me more.

She can go on for hours.... just building on what she already said and then extrapolating a multitude of reasons as to why I am a bad person its amazing how horrible some of the things she says sometimes are. I know she doesn't mean most of it but I just wish she would take a second to think about what she is saying. Its especially frustrating because she considers herself to be a super genius. Yet she puts such little thought into what she is saying.

That sounds pretty much exactly like my mother. It could be very damaging until you realise she's just ****ing bitter. Always giving out her opinions on how I look or what I'm doing or my "attitude" or my relationship. (Which really annoys the **** out of me because she's always "HE DOESNT TREAT YOU RIGHT, I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY!" I am very happy with him, just she can't stand it that I don't let her in on my personal business) I have the sibling problem too, my brother is a pampered douchebag. He just got a new job and he's having mommy find it for him. She still does all that kind of **** for him, down to calling to schedule his hair appointments. I on the other hand, have had to do all that **** for myself: scheduling doctors appointments, applying to school, whatever. It's ridiculous.

Well don't be to jealous, independence has its definite perks. The main thing that sucks about having your parents do a lot for you that doesn't really get recognized is as much as it should is that they're warped perceptions and expectations of you begin to have more weight and influence on you than is healthy.

Like for example. In high school my parents made me take IB courses in chem and physics. I told them that I would rather take english and social IB but they went on about how I am a math thinker and all this nonsense. But since my parents where doing everything for me at the time I was hardly in a position to argue with them. Being babied makes you forget that other people can't know you well enough that they should not be making decisions for you. Which causes a lot of tensions! Like I almost wasn't accepted into university because I nearly failed physics and chemistry. Luckily I managed to get top marks in (who would have thought) English and Social and I was able to be admitted despite not making minimum average.

PS what I find really baffling was how I once had a conversation with my dad about how he is an artistic thinker (he can't think at all let alone think artistically) and how I am the opposite... AS I WAS PAINTING. I swear my parents just want to believe what ever they want to contrary to any evidence of anything.

My mother's a sweetheart, I honestly believe that she has overcome the negative attributes of PMS, she is so nice 24/7. My father on the other hand...let's just say that I tend to ignore his incessant intolerance.

Right now, I am fangled out of my mind on cold medicine that I took to counteract my head cold. But now that I feel better, it really feels like a waste of time to be staying home today, but school is 7 miles away and attempting to walk it (since I am without ride or money for public transit) would prolong my sickness. Since I am feeling quite funky chicken from the medicine, I can't aim myself to focus on schoolwork that is in dire need of completion. Damn these things that plague my day.

Gosh, I missed this post entirely. I hope your myringotomy (!) went well, Liz. Can you hear better now? I hope so.
