In digital design and typography we're in the process of designing a logo for a garden project that my college is putting in. They intend on teaching classes about food production and such. They're going to hammer home the idea of sustainability and all natural growing practices. By that they mean no preservatives, no weed killers, etc. The guy who took a look at all of the ones we did had NO concept of logo design. I didn't expect him to, but goddamn. His favorite one was some horribly outdated looking rendition of a tree, and instead of a trunk, it was a person. He looked at mine, which is a pencil with corn leaves growing off of it (food + education), and said that if it was standalone you wouldn't know what it was for. Yes, because a tree with a person beneath it screams food education and everything they stand for. Before I left class I looked back and saw her put an academic cap on the person's head, and a heart in the middle of their chest. Why? Because she is a shit designer. I also intend on putting my logo inside of a simple diamond, because my college's logo is in the shape of a diamond. I will combine food, education, and my college's logo into one. I bet he'll pick some logo with a flower in it and a hand holding a sun, with the title of the project set in Comic Sans.

Heh. All I can say is get used to it. I recently had a client object to the poles in an illustration I did of a sign because they made him think of prison.

I think it was more that he gave very clear criticism that made it sound like he knew what he was talking about, even though he didn't. He teaches writing and even said he has no concept of design. The fact that he covered up the text portion of the logo and said, "see people wouldn't really know what it was for", just bothered me. You don't know what you're talking about. Just say you like it or not. If you want me to change it, tell me what you want.

As a side note, what's your style? I know I'm a minimalist. I think that's the right word anyway. I'm contemplating color, and I'm not sure if I want it. I was contemplating a pure text logo for awhile, but knew it wouldn't fly. I don't know. I just love simplicity. Must minimal.

What the average Tool fan thinks about anything that isn't Tool.

"The opening band, Melt Banana, was so horrible that I can't even find the words to describe their performance. I have a thing for Japanese girls, so I think the lead singer is cute. The guitarist just looked like a douche with that mask on. What was the point anyway? Trying to prevent the spread of SUCK onto the crowd? Jerk."

Fucking filth.

"The pipe isn't a pipe? That sounds like Dr Seuss"

That sounds awfully familiar.

You aren't a member of a private porn tracker.

Because beyond mainstream porn, there is a surprisingly limited supply of fetish porn. This has caused me no end of sadness in the past. In the immortal words of Bill Clinton, "I feel your pain".

You're doing it wrong.

Are you not aware of why the internet exists?
