yeah well, if we try and talk down on price (which we have), we're pretty much stuck peaying whatever we can get, or living in a trailer park. thats great you like to screw over "foreigners", theres a difference though between some dumbass who doesnt know that he shouldnt be paying that much, and someone who knows they're being screwed over, but can't do anything about it because the only other option is living in a trailer park or moving to another town thats 3 hours away from a ****tier mountain, defeating the whole purpose of why I came down here in the first place.

It doesn't sound like you have tried all that hard to chase down the price.
I never pay the asking price for anything and have never had a problem with paying what I feel something is worth.

how exactly do you propose we "chase down the price"? I'm not haggling over a piece of jewlery in a market in f*cking thailand, we're talking about rental costs for a house in an expensive tourist town. I'm well aware that things generally cost more in small tourist towns, especially ski towns, seeing as how I've spent well over half my time in the past 4 years in them. The owner refuses to go any lower, and it's not like it's her loss if we walk away. there are NO houses that are cheaper rent, and if we dont pay what this owner is asking, someone else will, and we'll be stuck paying way more to live in the cheapest hostel we can. I'm not "bending over for it", we have no choice in this matter. we can't threaten the owner that we wont take the house if she doesnt lower the cost, she won't give a f*ck. and like I said, there are no houses that are cheaper. trust me, we've looked.

I don't know my currency's that well. All I know is one dollar/pound in the UK is worth roughly 3 NZ dollars, and an Australian dollar fetches something like 10 cents more then the NZ dollar.

I guess a US dollar will get you about a 1.60 - 1.80 over here...
