crukster, don't be bothered by Plum. She was baiting you. "I hate how people throw feminist around as an insult." Then you clearly specify you are only talking about extremists and have nothing against women's rights and she still gets on your shit about it. You'll get a good feel for how people are over time.

I don't understand why anyone has to identify as even being a feminist. Isn't the main point of feminism to make things more equal for women politically, socially, economically, etc? Are there that many women out there who don't support equality? That's not rhetorical, I'm really asking and hopefully a female can answer as they may have better insight. I'd imagine nearly every female would want equality, so would they all be feminists?

The guy who sits in the office next to mine likes to listen to his music with no headphones, which is pretty annoying all by itself, but the rotation of what he listens to makes it so much worse. It goes something like this: overplayed Beatles song, overplayed Bob Marley song, overplayed Nirvana song, overplayed Beatles song, overplayed Bob Marley song, overplayed Nirvana song... and on into infinity.

oh right lol, well cheers for the heads up but it didn't really bother me tbh, she asked a question and I did my best to answer. If that was bait, that was shrimp bait, I'm big game she'll have to do better than that to catch me out *shrug*

I would say its defined by the parameters of intended/slash desired effect. The initial reasoning/slash drive. and achieved through moderation.

Like the whole point of going to the moon, first and foremost well its to see whats up there surely. So what I would call extremism or "unneccessary" extremism is going to such a lengths to complete your goal that you actually undermine the reason you're doing it

For example, shooting a rocket INTO the moon and blowing it up. Sure, you'll get there, but then there's nothing left.

I would also couple in witht that like, undesired "side effects", there's always risks and sometimes the riskier option is the best one, but if there's too many unneccessary risks then again that's unneccessarily extreme. Like again, if we're sticking with the moon example, loading up the shuttle with a lot of equipment that is very unlikely to be used, thats unneccessary and will cause more harm then good.

A little bit of modesty goes a long way.

This has been a bit of a rant I apologise, I'll sum up my whole stance in one nice sentence-

The ends do not always justify the means.

That does sound annoying. I think maybe you should try and get him for secret santa & get him a really nice pair of headphones. xD

Or... play his own music simultaneously while his colleague plays his. He'll be able a create a cacophony for the whole office to enjoy (and probably get in trouble with his superior). :D

I believe this is a bitch box, specifically for random bitching. I don't know why you always like to assume such ridiculous things but I guess it has to do with your own insecurities.

As simple as I can put it for you to understand

"Feminism is the radical notion that women are people"
So yeah, every woman should count herself a feminist.

Absolutely nothing to do with insecurities. Just callin it like I see it. You complain, he responds and says he's only talking about the extreme, you follow up by ignoring that part of his post. Nothing I wouldn't expect, just thought I'd give him a heads up.

I hardly think asking him what he means by what he said is "complaining", but you go on ahead being a hypocrite, bro

The typical Plum response, complete with calling someone else insecure/hypocritical and adding the obligatory "bro" at the end. Now I'm just waiting for the eventual "You're a white rapper!! LOLZ!" that is certain to come up at some point, for whatever reason.

crukster is right. The reason people are turned off by "feminism" is because they do think of the extremists. The ones who make mountains out of mole hills and view differences between sexes and some sort of atrocious inequality.
