I think it's sort of illegal in the states as well. They have to be at least 17.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I'm just suggesting possible explanations.

I'm going to go ahead and say something pretty stupid but in my experience a majority of black kids/teenagers usually get along with their mothers. I've only notice other races having problems with their parents even though I know it's not restricted in anyway. I'm just speaking from my experience.
Speaking from my experience black kids/teenagers have just as many conflicts with their family as anyone else, they're just less likely acknowledge it, even to themselves.

I agree with that but it's usually in different areas. For example they tend to have daddy abandonment issues if they happen to have a dad that was never around or left their mother to take care of them in a single parent situation.

I've been thrown out a few times. It's not uncommon. I go because I'm stubborn and one of my parents is too stubborn to stop me.

No offense, but I think you'd have to be a pretty awful parent to actually allow your child to go homeless. If you don't live with your dad, James, I doubt you'll actually be tossed out.

Well my parents knew I'd get the bus to my sisters. So if she's sure he'll have somewhere to go, she could be serious. My parents done it to show me they were serious. And that I basically have to live by their rules.

Well, yeah. That's what parents are for. I'm just saying, if James thinks he's going to live in a cardboard box, I doubt it. He should just pick his dad's place. From what I've heard, his friends suck anyways, haha.

Right, and it's probably happened to some of the people here, however, his mom doesn't sound like a degenerate scumbag, and I think James is too well adjusted to have someone like that as a primary caregiver.

I believe as a parent you are supposed to take care of your kid untill they're 21.
You are responsible for his deeds until he's... 18 I believe.

depending on the situation of the household, you can emancipate yourself at 17 if you can prove that you can provide for yourself.
